DJID Case Study: Why Brand Name Consistency Matters
Overview
A product can pass every required RF and EMC test and still face a DJID certification issue because of something as simple as an inconsistent brand name.
This is a documentation risk we have encountered in actual DJID certification projects. Under Indonesia’s DJID requirements, the brand name shown on the test report, application documents, certificate, QR code, and product label must remain consistent.
If these records do not match, the certification chain may be questioned even when the product itself is technically compliant.
Where the Risk Comes From
Brand name mismatches commonly occur when:
- A product is rebranded after testing
- A distributor applies under a different local trade name
- The application contains a spelling or formatting inconsistency
- The commercial brand differs from the brand shown in the test report
These issues are easy to overlook because they do not affect the technical performance of the product. However, from DJID’s perspective, the tested product and the certified product must be clearly traceable as the same product.
How The One Lab Handles It
Our approach is not simply to submit documents.
Before final approval, we cross-check the key product information across the full certification package, including:
- Test report
- Brand authorization documents
- Application information
- Model and product details
- Draft certificate
One of the most important checkpoints is the DJID certificate preview generated before final issuance.
We treat this draft as a mandatory review point and verify that the brand name, model name, certificate holder, and supporting documents are fully aligned before the certificate is finalized.
Catching an inconsistency at this stage is significantly easier than correcting it after issuance. But, What If the Certificate Has Already Been Issued?
If a brand mismatch is discovered after certification, DJID provides a revision mechanism.
In this situation, we first identify which record should be treated as the correct product identity, verify whether the existing test report and authorization documents support the intended brand, and prepare the necessary supporting documents for the revision process.
The goal is not simply to change one field on the certificate, but to restore consistency across the entire compliance record.
What This Case Demonstrates
DJID certification is not only about passing testing.
A successful certification project also requires control over the documentary chain connecting the test report, application, certificate, QR code, and market label.
This is where experienced certification management adds value.
At The One Lab, we help manufacturers identify these risks before they become approval, customs, or market-surveillance issues — ensuring that a technically compliant product is also properly documented for the Indonesian market.
