【India】BIS Defers All Non-ER:01 Compliant CCTV Registrations — Cybersecurity Enforcement Now in Effect

In a bold move to strengthen cybersecurity standards and protect consumer interests, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially deferred all registrations for CCTV camera models that do not comply with ER:01. This decisive action ensures that all manufacturers align with India’s national cybersecurity framework.

🔍 Key Updates:

  • Mandatory Compliance Deadline: April 9, 2025 was the final date for ER:01 implementation. Non-compliant models will no longer be accepted.

  • Authorized Testing: Only STQC-accredited laboratories are permitted to conduct ER:01 cybersecurity testing for CCTV cameras.

  • Exemptions: Analog CCTV cameras are exempt from the ER:01 requirement.

  • Impact on Existing BIS Licensees: As per the official BIS Guidelines dated October 22, 2024, any non-ER:01 compliant model will be removed from the BIS license scope after the deadline.

  • New Applications: All new submissions must fully comply with both IS 13252 and ER:01 requirements.
